Activities

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Training Dojo

The Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Training Dojo was established with the purpose of providing worshippers, especially young people, with a place to cultivate the character of a cosmopolitan person through the martial arts of kyudo, kendo, judo, and aikido. The spirit developed through the practice of martial arts and the moral character cultivated are of universal value throughout the ages. In the dojo, which has an exceptionally magnificent temple, the students practice daily under the watchful eye of Hachiman-sama.
In addition to daily practice, votive demonstrations and competitions are held every year at the Shobu Festival and other annual festivals, where many people, including the disciples, come to participate.

Martial Arts Training

Kyudo Department

Training days: Everyday (except holidays)
Hours: Morning: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon: 13:00 - 16:00
Evening 17:30 - 20:30 (except sunday)
Entry Requirements: High school age until 65 years old
(graduates of kyudo class only*)
Entry Period: August (after completion of kyudo class)
※Entry to the Kyudo Department is possible after completing the kyudo class which is held for three months from May.
Applications close at the end of March each year.
Entrance Fee: 5,000 yen
Monthly Fee: Over 18 years old(University Student) 5,000 yen
Under 18 years old 3,000 yen

Aikido Department

Training days: Wednesday and Saturday
Hours: Children's session 18:00-19:10
General session 19:20-20:30
Entry Requirements: 1st grade and older
Entry Period: April/October (experienced students can enter at any time)
Entrance Fee: 5,000 yen
Monthly Fee: Over 18 years old(University Student) 5,000 yen
Under 18 years old 3,000 yen

Kendo Department

Training days: Tuesday and Friday
Hours: Children's session 18:00-19:15
General session 19:30-20:30
Entry Requirements: 1st grade and older
Entry Period: April/October (experienced students can enter at any time)

Monthly Fee: Over 18 years old(University Student) 5,000 yen

Training days: Monday and Thursday
